Basic Information

Crackled Quartz are members of the Quartz family of crystals that have been enhanced to add color and give the unique ‘crackled’ look. Quartz stones are slowly heated and then ‘shocked’ by cooling them extremely quickly, causing an internal fracture in the stone. The stones then have color added to them, which penetrates the fractures of the stone.

Important Note

Crackled Quartz is a dyed stone, and despite it being a permanent process, these stones should not be submerged in water for long periods as the color may leach out of the stone. Care with clothing should also be taken when first handling the stones, as the color may transfer to clothing if handled.
